What were your experiences with emotional socialization as a child? Who were the significant others who taught you to recognize and communicate emotions? How has your emotional socialization impacted your current relationships and the way you communicate emotions today? How do you want to improve your abilities to recognize and communicate emotion? These sources should be used to deepen your analysis of your own experiences and behavioral patterns (you do not need to include a formal literature review). Lectures do not count as course readings, although you are welcome to cite them in addition to the required course readings. When citing lectures, use the following format for MLA: (Miller, date of lecture) so, for example, cite lecture this way (Miller, 9/26/13). If you are using ASA style, which is typically used in SOC, it would be like so (Miller 9/26/13). Please include a references page, which does NOT count toward the page limit of your paper.

OVERVIEW OF REQUIREMENTS
· Underline thesis statement
· 5 full pages (min) – 6 full pages (max) (NOT counting references page)
· In-text citations from at least TWO course readings in either MLA, ASA, or APA format
· A references page in either MLA, ASA, or APA format (just be consistent)
· Double spaced AND with no additional spaces between paragraphs
· 12 pt, Times New Roman font, 1” margins
· Page numbers on the bottom right
Remember, this is not just a narrative story of your life, it is an analysis. You should approach the topic sociologically, utilizing theory to inform your answers to the prompt questions.
Your paper should be well thought-out, carefully planned, executed, and edited to represent a college-level exploration of the topic in terms of writing quality and critical thinking. Each paper will be graded both for (1) its reflection of your ability to work with sociological ideas in relation to mastery of course issues, and (2) its demonstration of writing skills, including organization, grammar, syntax, clarity, punctuation, spelling, appropriate formatting, and so forth.
